Liquidity Services’ Marketplace Government Liquidation Recognized As Top E-Waste Recycler By Sims Recycling Solutions

Over Six Million Pounds of E-waste Recycled in 2012, Contributing to Government Zero-Waste Initiatives

WASHINGTON, April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Liquidity Services, Inc. (NASDAQ: LQDT) is pleased to announce that its Government Liquidation marketplace has been recognized as a top e-waste recycler by Sims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling.  In 2012 Liquidity Services recycled over six million pounds of electronic waste on behalf of the Department of Defense, the equivalent of 750,000 gallons of gasoline conserved, 174,000 trees planted, or 1,500 cars removed from the road.  Liquidity Services joins 13 other companies, recognized by Sims, in recycling a combined total of more than 100 million pounds of e-waste in the United States in 2012.

“We are a proud contributor to a zero-waste government mission to ensure all materials deemed scrap by the Defense Department are sold, repurposed, or recycled, while adhering to environmental, safety, and security compliance.  The six million pounds of e-waste recycled in the past year adds to the over two billion pounds of scrap materials recycled in the past decade through our Government Liquidation marketplace,” said Tom Burton, President of Liquidity Services’ Capital Assets Group. “This recognition from Sims is a direct reflection of the hard work of our staff and our collective commitment to ensure the proper methods for recycling and waste disposal are in place. We are honored to be counted as part of this select group dedicated to the elimination of waste streams.”

Liquidity Services was presented with an award and a certificate of sustainability showcasing its role in positively impacting the U.S. economy and environment through its commitment to electronics recycling.

“In most cases, the actions of these large corporations pave the way for the rest,” stated Steve Skurnac, President, Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “These organizations realize that they have a responsibility to not only properly dispose of their electronics because of their own environmental, data security, reputational and compliance obligations, but also to set the standard for others to do the same as well. Sims is pleased to congratulate these companies for their commitment to e-waste recycling and we are proud to be working with them.”

Liquidity Services is a trusted partner to the world’s top retailers, businesses, and government agencies for zero-waste initiatives and sustainability planning through innovative management and disposition of surplus assets and inventory.
