Eielson Air Force Base is once again offering up some unusual items — vast quantities of asphalt and cooking grease, to be specific — as part of an upcoming online government auction.
Eielson plans to sell 47.6 million pounds of recycled asphalt, generated from pulverized roads and runways, along with 26,000 pounds of used cooking grease. The asphalt sale represents the largest scrap auction in the history of Government Liquidation, the company that manages the auctions.
