The City of Jacksonville, Fla., has partnered with internet auctioning company GovDeals to sell surplus vehicles and products. Previously, the City held physical auctions once or twice per year. Online auctions will allow for a more real-time auctioning process that allows for a quicker turnover of surplus items and help reduce the Procurement Division’s footprint in the surplus yard, according to a City release.
The move saves taxpayer dollars with a reduced commision fee from the previous auctioneer, which provides more revenue for surplus assets.
