The Defense Department is auctioning a U.S. Army Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM-8) starting on Monday. The vessel is currently moored at an Army Reserve site in Tampa. The LCM-8 vessel is 74 feet long, 20 feet wide and capable of loading 180 tons. LCM-8s, also known as a Mike Boat, have been used since 1959. The boat will need some work to get it into prime shape. The winning bidder will need to transport the boat off the Army Reserve premises by water.
