Bidding website helps UCF save money

Saving money is traditionally one of the most important things for college students. With tuition, rent, gas and food to pay for, any chance to save is much appreciated. UCF has found a way to help students save money on necessary items and recycle unneeded items at the same time.

About a year and a half ago, the Facilities and Safety Department of UCF adopted a new system in order to be “better stewards,” said Lance Watkins, the warehouse services coordinator at UCF. This new system included making an account for UCF on GovDeals.com, a website similar to eBay that is used by government agencies trying to sell items they no longer need. Visitors to the site can bid on items ranging from musical instruments and desks at a much lower cost than purchasing directly from a store. Items can be won with bids as low as $10
