But strange combinations are the norm and part of the charm and interest at govdeals.com, an online auction site where cities, towns, counties and other governmental units try to sell surplus property they no longer want but hope that someone out there will. Several local governmental bodies use the site regularly and say it not only brings in money from sales of unneeded items, it also frees up valuable storage space and ends the need to hold more expensive and less successful physical auctions every year or so.
