There are two fire trucks for bid on GovDeals.com, according to Commissioner Dave Vanaman, with the city hoping to cash in on its antiquated equipment. GovDeals is used by municipalities and other entities to auction off and liquidate assets on a national scale.
“The likelihood, if we just put it in a regular city auction, it obviously would not have attracted as many bidders and would of probably gotten a lower price,” Vanaman said.
The first item is a 1985 Ford/American LaFrance Pump Fire Truck, which currently has seven bids. The highest bid, as of Tuesday night, is $2,520.00.
