Naval vessel being auctioned off for scrap

The USS Long Beach, the first nuclear-powered surface vessel, is being auctioned off for scrap. First commissioned in 1961, the ship is located at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA. The ship has 7.35 million pounds of steel, aluminum, copper wiring, galley equipment, fixtures and furnishings. Bids are due July 12 and the auction is being handled by Government Liquidation. Bids are sealed and the minimum bid is $150, according to the auction site.
