Findlay Auditor Jim Staschiak II said the city would normally pay to dispose of the wood, remnants of trees cut off city property. Now, the wood is sold to someone who can use it. He said GovDeals.com has turned out to be a good deal for Findlay. Staschiak’s office manages sales through the site, which have replaced traditional city auctions that were held twice a year. The online auction site also pays better than traditional auctions, attracting a much larger audience over a longer period of time. For example, Staschiak said old city vehicles would only bring about $200 at auction. GovDeals has sold them for about $1,800.
