Need a polygraph chair or jail furnishings? Odd items mixed in with Fairhope-declared surplus

Anyone with an eye toward unusual interior design or maybe someone looking for new Halloween props may find it worth their while to peruse Fairhope’s latest surplus listing.

Among 47 items, such as lawn mowers and generators approved as surplus last week by the Fairhope City Council, there are a few peculiar pieces of property that caught the amused eye of Council President Jack Burrell.

“If you’re in the market for some odd stuff take a look at that list,” Burrell said during the Feb. 9 work session. “You’ve got one golf cart top. … I always wanted a polygraph chair. And you can go to sleep on your inmate jail mattress when you’re done with that.”

There are 29 jail mattresses on the list.

All the surplus property will be open for bidding soon on GovDeals.com, according to City Treasurer Nancy Wilson.
